BINI Brings A Parallel World to the Forgotten Island Panel at Comic-Con

Taking audiences to A Parallel World, BINI debuted their song for DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island live at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

The Nation’s Girl Group surprised attendees over the weekend with a special performance of the upcoming animated film’s official soundtrack, which features a mix of Filipino and English lyrics.

“You and I, be stuck together. Babangon kahit matumba. Laugh so hard; we cry together. You and I ride the tide together,” a part of its chorus goes. “Ikaw, aking kasama. Ikaw, ikaw lang. Together.”

Joining BINI in the annual pop culture convention were Forgotten Island cast members H.E.R., Liza Soberano, and Dave Franco, and filmmakers Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado.

“Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us, [Forgotten Island and DreamWorks]!” the eight-member group said on Instagram.

Prior to this special appearance, DreamWorks dropped A Parallel World’s music video, featuring snippets from the film interwoven with footage of BINI recording the song, enjoying their time in the United States—even recreating scenes from the movie—and dancing to the track when they first teased it during the opening weekend of their ongoing Signals World Tour.

Fans have since been celebrating yet another historic moment for the group, with many calling the collaboration a win for homegrown artists. “This is such a huge milestone for Filipino representation on the global stage,” one BLOOM wrote on social media. “Congratulations to the girls — they’re the perfect artists to represent the Philippines, and they absolutely deserve this moment.”

It is not just BINI representing Filipino talent in DreamWorks’ highly-anticipated project. The Forgotten Island soundtrack also features songs by Broadway icon Lea Salonga, P-pop group SB19, and global girl group KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza. H.E.R and Soberano, the film’s lead stars, have also lent their voices for the track, BRB.

Inspired by Filipino folklore, Forgotten Island follows best friends Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano), who get trapped on the mystical island of Nakali. The duo must find their way home before their friendship—and their past—is erased forever. Aside from H.E.R. and Soberano, the star-studded voice cast also includes Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Ronny Chieng, Jenny Slate, and Franco.

Forgotten Island premieres in Philippine theaters beginning September 23.
