BTS, CORTIS, KATSEYE Score Additional MTV VMA Nominations With Best Group Nod

South Korean supergroup BTS and rookie sensation CORTIS are now in the running for Best Group at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, following the unveiling of additional nominations. They join the race alongside global girl group KATSEYE—whose nomination was also just announced—and fellow K-pop act BLACKPINK.

BTS is now competing in categories after previously scoring nods for Song of the Year and Best K-pop for Swim, the carrier single of its fifth studio album, ARIRANG.

The septet had won Best Group for four straight years from 2019 to 2022, making them the most decorated act in the history of the category.

CORTIS, likewise, earned three nominations after their inclusion in the Best Group roster. The five-member act, who debuted just over a year ago, was previously nominated for Best New Artist and Best K-pop for their song, REDRED.

KATSEYE, on the other hand, now has four chances to take home a trophy. They were added to the race for both Best Group and Song of Summer for Hootie Frutti, the lead track from their latest EP, WILD.

Earlier, the group secured nominations for Best K-pop and Best Choreography for their single, Pinky Up. This marks their second time gunning for a VMA win after bagging the MTV Push Performance of the Year award for Touch in 2025.

A total of eight acts will battle it out for Best Group at the prestigious music awards ceremony this year, including British girl group FLO and American regional Mexican band Fuerza Regida. The 2026 MTV VMAs will be held on September 27 (September 28 in Philippine time) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, and will air live on major U.S. channels, with streaming available through Paramount+.

Beyond another shot at a VMA trophy, the nominations highlight how quickly Asian pop artists are picking up pace — proving where they stand now and where they are headed next.
