This Park Just Opened in Pasig City — Complete with a Playground, Half Court, and Bike Lane
Another green space in Metro Manila. Yoohoo.

A green space is always welcome, especially in the middle of a bustling metro. Good thing another one just opened in Pasig City — the Ilaya Buting Linear Park.
Located in Barangay Buting, the 3,170-square-meter site, which has been idle for some time, is now a vibrant hub with new and improved facilities and amenities for residents and visitors alike.

The redeveloped park features a playground, a half-court for basketball, outdoor exercise equipment, bike lanes, and public restrooms, complete with freshly painted grounds. A greenhouse or a vertical garden may soon be added to enhance the greenery, too, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared on social media that further upgrades are underway, including the setting up of light posts and signages, landscaping, and other structural improvements.
“Gaya ng sinabi ko nung nagsimula ang taon, pararamihin [at] palalakihin natin ang mga park, palaruan, at open space sa lungsod (As I said at the beginning of the year, we will increase and expand the parks, playgrounds, and open spaces in the city),” said Sotto.
“Hindi pwedeng puro building (We can’t just keep putting up buildings),” he added. “Mahalaga ang mga espasyong ganito para sa kalusugan ng bawat isa, at lalong mahalaga para sa development ng mga bata (Spaces like this are vital for everyone’s health, especially for the development of children).”

The Ilaya Buting Linear Park is the third of its kind in Pasig. Though modest compared to major parks, the ₱24.8-million project—funded under the government’s Green, Green, Green program—is a much-needed addition amid Metro Manila’s lack of green spaces, giving people more options to step outside, exercise, and relax.
Here’s to making the metro more livable, one park at a time.
