Spotify is home to Pinoy culture, with local music quadrupling in the past five years

Spotify, the world’s leading audio streaming platform, has redefined how Filipinos discover and engage with music, with Pinoy music streams quadrupling over the past five years. Spotify has unveiled its refreshed Pinoy Music Hub, the ultimate destination with 50 editorial playlists that drive culture and champion artist discovery.

Speaking at Spotify Lounge: Philippine edition, Kossy Ng, Head of Music for Spotify Southeast Asia, said, “Pinoy music continues to reach new fans across genres and borders. Spotify not only delivers an unparalleled, personalized music experience for listeners, but also serves as the platform for artists to grow their audience and build deep connections with their fans.”

To mark ten years of Pinoy music’s growth on Spotify, the Pinoy Music Hub is part of the platform’s commitment to both listeners and artists. A space packed with the latest genre hits in Tatak Pinoy, KALYE, and P-Pop on the Rise, alongside timeless favorites from OPM Hits of the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s. It even offers soundtracks for every mood, from Kilig Pa More to Hugot, Panalo, and more.

With a growing creator economy and fan-driven music culture, Spotify’s features, such as playlists, personalized recommendations, and its ability to share their favorite songs and lyrics on social media, also fuel fan support. Spotify’s Philippines' Top 50 chart now comprises 75% local tracks. Pinoy Hip-Hop has seen a massive 600% increase in global daily streams over the past five years. Meanwhile, P-pop, experienced a 138% year-on-year increase in streams on Spotify in the past year alone.

Celebrating a decade of Pinoy music at the Spotify Lounge: Philippine edition, Spotify brought together the music industry and community, featuring live performances from Ben&Ben and RADAR artists Illest Morena and Maki.

Ben&Ben and Moira Dela Torre were honored as Spotify’s inaugural decade definers for their record-breaking hits that have resonated with fans. Tracks “Tadhana” by Up Dharma Down, “Kathang Isip” and “Maybe The Night” (Ben&Ben), “Pano” (Zack Tabudlo), “Ikaw Lang” (NOBITA), “Paraluman” (Adie), “Mahika” (Adie and Janine Berdin), “Mundo” and “Come Inside Of My Heart” (IV Of Spades),  “Pasilyo” (SunKissed Lola), “Kung 'Di Rin Lang Ikaw” (December Avenue and Moira Dela Torre), “Pagsamo” and “Isa Lang” (Arthur Nery), and “Kung Wala Ka” (Hale) were also spotlighted for making a mark in the music industry. Rising stars and part of Spotify’s RADAR slate, Hev Abi and Maki were celebrated for their innovative sounds and styles, shaping the next wave of Pinoy Music.

“Spotify played a big role in spreading our music and reaching our audience. As a nine-piece band, with each member being quite unconventional in their own way, it's important to let our music speak for us first. Today, the Philippine music industry is exciting. There's just such an abundance of music that more than ever it feels like there's something good for every type of listener,” said Ben&Ben.

“With an impressive 80% average growth in Pinoy artist global exports year-on-year, we remain dedicated to empowering Filipino talents and continue elevating Pinoy music on the global stage. I’m excited to bring their music to even more fans around the world,” concludes Kossy Ng.
