#PARCINQFRESH: NEW ON THE LINE Featuring GAT

Talk about putting OPM on the map—2024 was a real game-changer for Filipino music. From BINI’s year-long creative “lockdown” to the rise of fresh talents who’ve made it onto our playlists (gatekept or not), the local music scene thrived alongside industry icons and indie gems.

According to the latest year-end report, the Philippines emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets for premium streaming of local songs among non-English-speaking countries. With streaming platforms bridging the gap between artists and audiences, last year became a defining moment for OPM, and of course, P-pop—a movement that’s only gaining momentum as we head into 2025.

And with P-pop soaring to new heights, trailblazed by BINI, SB19, ALAMAT, and more, Parcinq is here to introduce you to three rising groups that are ready to take the spotlight.

GAT

“Refreshing!” That’s the word member Derick used to describe GAT, and honestly, we couldn’t agree more. Despite being named after the old Filipino honorific Gatdula, meaning “Sir,” there’s something undeniably fresh and bubbly about Viva Artist Agency’s pre-debut P-pop boy group.

With members Charles Law, Ethan David, Michael Keith, Derick Ong, and Hans Paronda, GAT is already turning heads. Their R&B-infused vocals and dreamy visuals are bound to have fans swooning in no time as they set the stage for their debut with a youthful energy and charm that’s impossible to ignore. Keep your eyes—and playlists—ready for them!

Undeniably multitalented, four of GAT’s members—Charles, Ethan, Derrick, and Michael—are already venturing beyond music, starring in Viva One’s Mutya ng Section E alongside Andres Muhlach and Ashtine Olviga.

As they gear up for their official debut, GAT dropped a pre-debut single on January 10—a fresh take on James Reid’s hit “Huwag Ka Nang Humirit.”

Beyond their polished sound and charming presence, their name carries a deeper meaning. While inspired by the Filipino honorific Gatdula, GAT also stands for “Gawang Atin ‘To”—a bold statement of their mission to champion Filipino talent and creativity with a youthful and innovative flair. With their passion and star power, GAT is shaping up to be a force to watch in P-pop!
