In our latest Parcinq Fresh issue, meet Migo Valid, a rising artist who's about to swoon our hearts with his fresh music and charming personality. Paving his musical direction, this 21-year-old artist offers us refreshing Alternative Pop and R&B songs that we will add to our chill road trip playlist.
From his debut single entitled "ah sarado" in 2021, Migo has amassed listeners who expressed how this song made them feel the kilig. It continued him in serenading our hearts with more of his self-written works. The singer-songwriter just released his latest single, "Suong," last June 10 on all digital streaming platforms. The song showcases Migo's sweet voice, chilled rhythms, and heartfelt lyrics. The said track will be the Official Soundtrack of the Vivamax' How to Love Mr. Heartless', and this didn't hold back Migo's excitement in sharing with us this milestone.
But beyond his soulful music, we can't deny that Migo is a sweet, free-spirited, and pretty laid-back guy. He is passionate about telling stories about people and experiences, and it's evident in how he pours his heart out in every song he writes.
Read on to know what drives him to the music industry, how he writes music, his new single, his music influences (SPOILER ALERT! He's a 5SOS fam!), and many more. Get ready to fall in love with this new heartthrob!
What drew you to the music industry? How do you describe your creative process?
When I was 16 mahilig talaga ako manood sa Youtube ng mga artist na magagaling especially OPM. Nainspire ako sa kanila and syempre yung kuya and ate ko kasi nag peperform sila sa mga events, sila mas nag influence sa kin na mag try na kumanta and mag perform. So nag start ako magsulat ng kanta. [At the age of 16, I enjoy watching videos on Youtube that feature amazing OPM artists and which inspired me to become a musician. I was also inspired by my siblings since they also perform in events. They influenced me to sing and perform as well.]
Who’s your biggest musical influence?
[Back in high school, I got the chance to watch live performances from Jireh Lim and Silent Sanctuary, which led me to be interested in playing on stage. 5 Seconds of Summer also became my biggest influence in writing songs and pursuing a music career.]
For those who just discovered your music, what song do you recommend them to listen to?
[I just released my recent single, "Suong," I am sure even if the listeners can’t relate to the song, they will feel its message. "Suong" is a Batangueno word that means Karga, which in Tagalog, means, “Ready to face all the challenges strongly and fearlessly.” ]
Are there any music genres you’d like to explore in your future music?
Ayun talaga yung gusto kong itry talaga in the future. [I want to pursue Rock and explore more on the R&B side. Those are the genres I really want to try in my future music.]
Have you ever serenaded or wrote a song to someone?
[During high school, I serenade a lot since I always perform at our school events. When writing a song for someone, all of it is inspired by people. My single “Suong” is dedicated to someone. I want them to hear this song because I've put a lot of emotions into composing it.]
If you could go back in time to tell your 16-year-old self something, what would you say?
[“Migo, all of your dreams finally came true.” At 16, that was the age where I dreamed of the things that I have right now. I never imagined that I’ll be here and I didn't even know how I got here. I just always dreamed of becoming better than before. I’m so proud of myself and I know slowly, I’ll be reaching the top.]
There's nothing like a refreshing getaway to clear your head and recharge. But where is the perfect destination for you?
[Palawan is a peaceful place where I could clear my head and unwind. There is this certain spot in Palawan that is far from the city, and compared to here in Manila, the vibe is different. You will feel like you’re in a paradise in Palawan.]
The world is a big place with so much to see. When you explore, do you ever find yourself getting inspired by your surroundings? How does that affect your creativity as an artist?
[As an artist, I prefer to be in solitude. However, I can still write in busy places, but you really need a place where you can think in peace. Also living in a healthy environment, surrounding yourself with non-toxic people so you won’t feel drained.]
Migo’s latest single “Suong” is now out on all digital platforms!
