You can never go wrong with an Iskolar ng Bayan. The go-getter mindset is at the heart of every University of the Philippines student, as they balance rigorous academic demands with extracurricular activities.
And UP Men’s Football Team athlete Cole Chung truly embodies these values. “I was raised and grew up playing football competitively while also maintaining strong academic grades, so the go-getter or achiever mindset has been ingrained in me since I was young,” the Economics major shares, highlighting the exceptional drive and multifaceted excellence that defines him as a student-athlete.
Cole’s interests go beyond the field and classroom. As a Pisces who’s emotionally intelligent and very easy to converse with, one remarkable thing about his personality is that people who engage in deep conversations with him, even strangers, reach a level of comfort where they can open up about things they don’t normally share with others.
Embracing his full Pisces spirit, Cole adds, “I would like to be remembered as someone who would be there for you when nobody else could. Even though it doesn’t seem like it sometimes, I would do anything for those I love and care about.” With a smile, he jests, “One thing that I don’t align with is the chill and passive mentality of a Pisces.”
Adding another feather to his cap, Cole also poses for the camera and rocks the runway as a model under Luminary Model Management. Sharing advice with aspiring models, he says, “Just talk to people. Whether it be a fellow model, a designer, a photographer, or production staff, just go out of your way and your comfort zone to build connections.”
The student-athlete and model exemplifies the diverse talents and aspirations of UP students, proving that the Iskolar ng Bayan spirit thrives in every endeavor they pursue.

Cole: “My favorite travel destination has to be Japan. The scenery and the food alone could make me go again. Not to mention their current weak currency, so all of their goods and services are sold at much lower prices.”
Q. Do you catch yourself singing or dancing in the shower?
Cole: “I love singing in the shower actually, it's one of the things I look forward to doing after getting home from a busy day. One of my favorite songs to sing in the shower is Get Here by Sam Smith.”
Q. What would be your superpower?
Cole: “If I were to have a superpower, it would be to shoot different drinks out of the tips of my fingers. From thumb to pinky, it would go water, beer, chocolate milk, coffee, and coke zero.”
Q. Tell us about any of your hidden talents that most people do not know about
Cole: “I can juggle a golf ball with a golf club.”
Q. What's your biggest pet peeve?
Cole: “My biggest pet peeve is when people constantly click their pen.”
Q. What would you like to be remembered about?
Cole: “I would like to be remembered as someone who would be there for you when nobody else could. I think that, even though it doesn’t seem like it sometimes, I would do anything for those I love and care about.”
