GMMTV’s Three Pillars and The Rise of the BL Industry in the PH

Love them or hate them, the members of GMMTV’s “Holy Trinity” are considered to be the pillars of the company. With their good looks, acting prowess, and successful series of shows, there is little to no doubt that these three BL imaginary couples have rightfully earned the title of being The Three Pillars of GMMTV.

As more and more audiences are enticed to join their fandoms, get to know the big three of GMMTV and the shows that catapulted them to fame.

KristSingto

Krist Perawat Sangpotirat and Singto Prachaya Ruangroj rose to fame when their series SOTUS aired in 2016. The widely recognized series has paved the way for these two actors to be acclaimed by various award-giving bodies for their acting and chemistry.

As a BL couple, Krist and Singto starred in two series (SOTUS and SOTUS S) and one episode in the OurSkyy anthology (Episode 5). Both actors have since then ventured out to create other series under the company: Love Beyond Frontier, One Night Steal, Who Are You, An Eye for an Eye for Krist; and Friendzone, He’s Coming to Me, Turn Left Turn Right, Girl Next Room for Singto.

Krist and Singto’s most recent show together is the I’m Tee, Me Too which was aired in 2020.

TayNew

The series Kiss, which aired in 2016 as well, gave birth to the TayNew tandem. Known for their close friendship, Tay Tawan Vihokratana and New Thithipoom Tacha-apaikun, have been the best of friends even before the airing of their first BL series.

TayNew has starred as a BL couple in three series (Kiss, Kiss Me Again, Dark Blue Kiss) and one episode in the OurSkyy anthology (Episode 4). As individual actors, both have also starred in series such as Secret Seven, 3 Will be Free, The Gifted: Graduation for Tay; and Water Boyy, Wolf, and Love Beyond Frontier for New.

Both Tay and New are also part of the series I’m Tee, Me Too where they played the role of Teedo and Teedet.

OffGun

Gun Atthaphan Phunsawat and Off Jumpol Adkittiporn debuted as a BL couple in the 2016 series Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey. Since then, Off and Gun’s closeness has given birth to a fandom who find them endearing as they call themselves Papii and Babii.

OffGun has starred in three BL series (Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey, Senior Secret Love: Puppy Honey 2, Theory of Love), is anticipated to star in another one this year (Not Me), and one episode in the OurSkyy anthology (Episode 1). Off and Gun has also been a part of other shows such as The Gifted, The Gifted: Graduation, Club Sapan Fine for Gun; and U-Prince the Ambitious Boss, Wolf, Girl Next Door for Off.

Off and Gun are the last two actors involved in the I’m Tee, Me Too series--a show that cast the three pillars, but not as BL characters.
