One thing that makes the Philippines truly special is how early the Christmas season kicks off. While other places might still be basking in the summer sun, Filipinos are decking the halls and jingling all the way as soon as September rolls around.
One iconic Filipino singer during the Christmas season is Jose Mari Chan, whose Christmas tracks have been embedded in the culture for many years. Beyond “Christmas in Our Hearts,” his song “A Perfect Christmas” has also become a beloved soundtrack for the season, especially as highlighted by Kumu content creator and singer Jerome Aquino (@romeeboiii).
For Jerome, a perfect Christmas isn’t just about giving gifts or money but rather it’s about cherishing quality time with the ones you love most.
At 23, Jerome already found a home on Kumu. For him, Kumu is a place where he can safely and proudly celebrate his passion for singing. As he puts it, “Throughout my existence, music has been the anthem of my life.”
Jerome’s journey on Kumu has been anything but ordinary. While he initially streamed on other platforms, changing circumstances led him to explore new avenues. A friend who was already thriving on Kumu encouraged him to give it a try, and that invitation marked the beginning of an exciting chapter ahead of him.
Over the past six months, Jerome has truly embraced his time on Kumu. Not only has he enjoyed the platform, but it has also opened up a world of opportunities for him. He’s had the chance to be featured in a magazine as a model and even performed live during Kumu’s anniversary celebration, and he confessed that he has been loving every bit of the experience.
Passionate, expressive and engaging, Jerome feels grateful to be part of the vibrant streaming community and is optimistic about what the future holds. With each livestream, the aspiring food technologist hopes to create even more memorable moments and continue his journey of exploration and connection.
And checking off his bucket list is being featured in a magazine. “In Kumu, I didn’t hesitate to sign up because it wasn’t just about fulfilling one item on my bucket list; I also saw it as an opportunity to grow,” he shares. And sure enough, he did just that.
He has always remained focused on his goals, refusing to let anyone or anything deter him from the life he has always dreamed of. His determination shines through in every performance and interaction, as he actively pursues his passion for music. With each step forward, he not only inspires others but also proves that with hard work and dedication, dreams can truly come to life.
Success is not just about growing, earning and fulfilling my dreams,” he says. “It’s also about sharing the learning and experiences that I've overcome to become successful because you won’t be seen as a successful person if you don't inspire others.”
This Christmas season, Jerome is all set to let his voice be heard as he sings his favorite Christmas carols in the blue streaming platform and beyond—just like what he usually does during the ‘Ber’ months.
