A star is born—burning bright, breaking hearts, and taking over.

Beyond the world of local entertainment—where dreamers and artists seemingly “fight” to stand out—it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and the journey is anything but easy. Yet, Rabin Angeles is making his mark on his own terms.

From childhood daydreams to the bright lights of the screen, Rabin is proving that passion and perseverance pay off. Unlike overnight sensations, his journey in local entertainment has been one of hard work, patience, and an unshakable love for the craft. Now, with the hit series “Ang Mutya ng Section E” capturing hearts, Rabin is making sure everyone’s watching.

What makes Rabin’s journey so compelling is he’s a dreamer who doesn’t just chase success but embraces every challenge along the way, learning and growing with each experience. And as his story unfolds, one thing’s for sure: this is just the beginning.

The Genesis

Rabin’s love for acting wasn’t a passing phase for he said it was a calling he felt from a young age. “Since I was a child, I’ve wanted to act because of the things I watched. I just knew it was what I wanted to do,” he expresses.

Like many aspiring actors, he found inspiration in the performances that lit up his screen, imagining himself in those very roles, telling stories, and forging connections with audiences. But for Rabin, it was something deeply personal. “I wanted my mother to see me on screen,” he shares, his voice tinged with warmth. “I’d always tell her I’d be like that someday.”

But dreams don’t turn into reality overnight. Rabin put in the work—auditioning, honing his craft, and pushing past every doubt. “I auditioned, tried my best, participated in workshops,” he recalls. “And eventually, I got the part.”

He still remembers the whirlwind of emotions during auditions—the nerves, the anticipation, the thrill of stepping into character. Every workshop became a stepping stone, every rejection a lesson, and finally, that first role was proof that he was on the right path.

Through it all, Rabin found strength in his biggest supporter, his mother. Her encouragement fueled his drive. And now, as he steps into the spotlight, he’s not just fulfilling a childhood dream as he’s also bringing his mother’s pride, his passion, and his purpose with him.

Breaking Comeback

Ang Mutya ng Section E marks an important moment in Rabin’s career–his return to the screen after a year away. “I had done some projects before,” he shares, “But then I took a break from acting. My manager sent me home to Pampanga, and I didn’t work for a year.”

It was a challenging time, but it also gave him perspective. “It was a long wait for another project,” he admits. This period of waiting taught him the importance of perseverance. “My advice to others waiting for opportunities is: Don't give up. Keep learning,” he said.

Rabin believes that acting is an ever-evolving craft, one that requires continuous growth. “On-set experience teaches you so much, so never stop studying. It’s a vast field. Be patient.” He opens up about the doubts he faced during his break, the struggle to stay motivated, and the renewed passion that Mutya helped him rediscover.

For Rabin, filming Mutya was nothing short of special. “Honestly, every day was memorable,” he says with a smile. The energy on set was infectious, thanks to a cast and crew that instantly clicked. “We were all close in age, so we became good friends.” One of his favorite moments? The “Dali Dali” dance scene. “We were all so energetic and playful that day,” he recalls, painting a picture of laughter, camaraderie, and the kind of fun that made long filming days fly by.

As for what viewers can expect? “Every episode of Ang Mutya ng Section E offers something new,” Rabin teases. “Prepare to be surprised, episode after episode.” With its twists, relatable characters, and compelling storytelling, he promises a series that will keep audiences hooked.

Yuri and Beyond

Rabin’s connection to his character, Yuri, is evident. “Yuri seems to be in control of things,” he observes. “But thanks to Miss Anna Fleo's guidance, I was able to portray Yuri effectively. He's soft-hearted, and that's something I connect with. He cares deeply about his friends and will do anything for the girl he likes. In that way, I’m similar to him.”

He describes the process of getting into Yuri’s mindset, the nuances he discovered, and the support he received from his acting coach, Miss Anna Fleo. He also shares the physical and emotional preparation he underwent, including lifestyle changes and intensive workshops.

“I stopped going out as much, started working out at the gym, and focused on eating healthy,” he says. “I even dyed my hair for the role. I also participated in numerous workshops to prepare.” Looking ahead, Rabin has big ambitions. “I’d love to do action films,” he says, his voice filled with excitement.

“Or perhaps play a character like Leonardo DiCaprio's in Basketball Diaries—someone struggling with addiction. That kind of role is incredibly challenging, and I’m drawn to that kind of challenge.” He expresses his desire to explore different genres and tackle complex characters. He admires actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, known for their dedication to their craft and willingness to take on demanding roles.

With his talent, drive, and genuine passion for acting, Rabin is undoubtedly a rising star who is slowly crafting his journey on his own terms and at his own pace.

I knew he had that star power! His eyes can convey a range of emotions, which is really impressive! I hope his manager will work hard to help him land his dream roles someday. Although personally, I’d love to see him play a CEO in a dark romance type of drama haha. I mean, Yuri has that dark vibe to his character, so why not strike while the iron is hot? He has gained not only local but also international fans becoz of this role. So excited for him!
