“All hail BINI” were our words for the girl group as our cover stars for the Future is Female issue back in March. The last we checked in with Gwen, Colet, Maloi, Stacey, Jhoanna, Aiah, Sheena, and Mikha, they spoke of their journey, womanhood, and the P-Pop rise. So, where have they been lately? Or should I say—Where have they not been?
Since then, the 8-member girl group has been all over the scene. From collaborations, live concerts and new content to even the Pit A Pat single and Na Na Na music video, BINI has been booked and busy—living up to the ‘nation’s girl group’ tag. As told by leader Jhoanna, “Currently, sunod sunod ‘yung pasok ng blessings, and we are so blessed to be busy. May times na nakakapagod pero mas okay na meron, na ganito, kaysa naman wala.”
[“Currently, we’ve had back-to-back blessings, and we are so blessed to be busy. There are times that it’s tiring, but it’s better like this than to not have any [projects] at all.”]
Aiah talks about the nervous but exciting energy that comes with finally doing live performances—something the girls have yet to see through the full extent of after debuting in the course of a pandemic. “It’s really exciting now that we get to see a lot of people kasi before puro virtual lang talaga. And at first, it’s really overwhelming, but we’re really looking forward to having live performances because in a way, nakakatulong siya for us to perform na mas mapakita pa namin ‘yung best namin.”
[“It’s really exciting now that we get to see a lot of people because before, it was all virtual. And at first, it’s really overwhelming, but we’re really looking forward to having live performances because in a way, it helps us to perform so that we can strive for our best even more.”]
And their next stop between everything else? Tugatog. Known for their synchronized dances and stable voices, it gets us and the BLOOMs wondering what’s to come for this next major event. Sheena says, “Expect na may mga collab performances kami and may mga pasabog. Hindi lang siya normal na performance kasi BINI kami. BINI, laging may surprise.” While, Mikha chimes in with a simple, “Expect a different level of performance from us.”
[“Expect that we’ll be having collab performances and a lot of surprises. It’s not going to be a normal performance because we’re BINI. BINI always has a surprise.”]
As BINI gears up for Tugatog, so are the rest of the P-Pop groups that have made a splash throughout the pandemic. Back in the Future is Female issue, the girls expressed aspirations for being on one stage with their fellow groups. And finally, it looks like the dream is coming true for the P-Pop rise.
Maloi exclaims, “Isa sa talagang pinakahihintay naming BINI, ‘yung makapag-perform with live audience and makapag-perform with our fellow P-Pop groups. Isa talaga ‘yun sa ni-llook forward namin ever since nag-ttraining pa kami. Palagi namin pinag-uusapan na soon, hindi na laging virtual and hindi nalang tayo-tayo kundi may makakasama na kaming ibang P-Pop groups. So, sobrang masarap sa pakiramdam, and I’m really looking forward to more performances with other P-Pop groups in the future.”
[“One of the things we as BINI have been waiting for is getting to perform with a live audience and with our fellow P-Pop groups. It’s really something we’ve been looking forward to ever since we were training. We’ve always talked about how soon, it won’t just be virtual and not just us, but we’ll also be with other P-Pop groups. So, it feels so good, and I’m really looking forward to more performances with other P-Pop groups in the future.”]
