All the Green Flags of How To Spot A Red Flag

For a series with a premise about catfishing and deception, there are a number of things that make "How to Spot A Red Flag" legit and worthy of watching.

Viu Original "How to Spot A Red Flag" revealed in a two-in-one media conference and fan meeting on November 25 why this project is a breath of fresh air—something light and exciting, in contrast to previous DonBelle works.

‘Top-Caliber, Award-Winning’ production

From the home of the most talented storytellers, Viu partners with ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment to bring you a feel-good story with a modern love tale that also tackles real issues many netizens can relate to.

Starring the "New Gen Phenomenal Love Team" of the Philippines, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, is already a great reason to stream the series. To top it off, Viu has assembled an impressive lineup of notable names, including Mylene Dizon, Christian Vasquez, Benjie Paras, Angel Aquino, Kira Balinger, Jameson Blake, and Esnyr.

With this star-studded cast, you can expect no shortage of acting talent—from heart fluttering moments to intense scenes and everything in between. To complete the package, the series is directed by Direk Dwein Baltazar, who is equally excited to collaborate with such a remarkable cast.

Focus on Filipino culture

Viu Philippines Content Head Garlic Garcia shared that How to Spot A Red Flag is an elevated series—one that redefines what a show from the Philippines can look, feel, and sound like. It’s a series that showcases the best of the Philippines, starting with the star-studded lineup both on and off camera, as well as the stunning location of La Union.

When asked what excited DonBelle the most about accepting the project, both answered in unison that it was the setting. The series takes place in the Surfing Capital of the Philippines. Belle shared that she had never been to Elyu before, so she was relishing every moment and enjoying the beauty it offers.

How to Spot A Red Flag may not be the first to promote this, but its contribution to boosting Philippine culture—especially outside Metro Manila—is something that makes you proud of the series beyond just its storytelling.

DonBelle’s Natural Chemistry

Now, things get a little more showbiz as Angel Aquino and Christian Vasquez spilled some details about the undeniable bond between the main stars, both on and off-screen, that will make you wonder, "Is there something more?"

DonBelle honestly shared that the acts and emotions involved are real. They truly feel kilig while shooting, and the same applies to all the scenes. This goes to show how deeply they internalize their characters and bring passion and authenticity to their performances, which is what makes them great artists, and the cast couldn’t agree more.

Bubblies’ Support

DonBelle has truly made a name for themselves with their growing fandom—Bubblies. The hall was already roaring with cheers even before the event began. Fans from all walks of life gathered, ready to give their all-out support.

You can never count out Bubblies when it comes to their affection and commitment to DonBelle, and that alone is a major green flag. Viu Philippines Content Head Garlic Garcia even acknowledged their energy and support, which fuels the team to strive for excellence and release even more must-see projects for DonBelle in the future.

Well, if those green flags still don’t convince you to stream the series, then maybe you’re the red flag? Kidding aside, unlike Cha Fontanilla (played by Belle Mariano), don’t fall for comments that say the series isn’t their cup of tea.

You should definitely stream it and see for yourself why it’s worth your time—because it truly is. How to Spot A Red Flag streams every Monday and Tuesday, starting November 25. A separate behind-the-scenes content series, titled Red Flag Diaries, will air every Friday, beginning November 29, so you don’t miss out on what goes on beyond the screen.
