Someplace Far From Home, Fred Moser Finds His Own Kind of Charm

A public market in the heart of Vietnam is the last place you’d expect to see someone in a full green suit. Yet, it is exactly where you will find Fred Moser, who seems to be drawn to the unexpected.

Across three distinctly sharp looks, the 19-year-old makes an impeccable case for contrasts: a crisp blazer, polo, and tie paired with jorts at a café; a dapper green suit against the bustle of a wet market; and a tailored blue-and-white ensemble set on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. Polished but playful, these styles feel quite close to home, yet refreshingly unique compared to his usual aesthetic — a reflection of a 19-year-old still figuring out the many facets of himself the world has yet to see.

His first-ever trip to Vietnam gave him the chance to do a little exploring and search for answers on his own, even before the cameras started rolling.

Almost everything, from the food to the people and the rhythm of the country, felt unfamiliar to him. Fred initially expected the locals to be less welcoming than those he was used to at home — only to be pleasantly surprised by their energy and warmth.

“I needed that pahinga na wala akong iniisip,” he shares, describing the getaway as a rare chance to slow down and escape the grueling demands of work and senior high school.

A self-confessed fashion enthusiast, Fred quickly fell for Ho Chi Minh City’s vibrant shopping scene. “I got to shop in every single [clothing] store,” he candidly recalls.

The Albay-born teenager also found himself enjoying Vietnamese cuisine more than he expected, particularly pho, despite rarely eating Asian food.

But while splurging on new wardrobe pieces and exploring the local culinary scene were among his favorite parts of the experience, it taught him something more about himself: sometimes, stepping into entirely different places—or outfits—can reveal sides of you that might otherwise remain undiscovered.

Out of Place, In Style and Character

Of all the ensembles he tried on, the green suit photographed at a public market is the one Fred gravitates toward most. Its structured silhouette and considered styling create a striking contrast against the movement of everyday life around him.

“It didn’t belong in that specific place, so I was, like, standing out,” says Fred. “It wasn’t effortless, but it had a personality that felt natural to me.”

There’s a parallel here with the way he views his career. The suit may seem out of place in its environment, but it doesn’t, in any way, feel like a “costume.” It possesses a character of its own — just like the young man wearing it.

Dubbed the “Courtside Charmer of Albay” during his stint on Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab 2.0, Fred has a moniker that immediately connects him to his love for basketball and the home province he represents. While he appreciates the name, he hopes it won’t define the limits of his potential, especially now that he has begun carving a path of his own.

“Basketball is a huge part of my story, but it’s not the whole story,” the rising actor says. “I want to be remembered as someone who kept evolving, not just stuck to one thing.”

Acting has opened up more doors for Fred to explore, while modeling has since given him another platform to express himself. Still in his teens, he believes he doesn’t have to choose between these pursuits, though the former is what he wants to focus on more seriously.

Fred hopes to take on bigger roles without leaving behind the sport he grew up playing. He even dreams of headlining a basketball series — a chance to bring his love for the court into the craft that is beginning to grow on him.

For Fred, however, being an artist is about more than the number of looks he can pull off or the roles whose shoes he can fill.

He wants to be someone who brings light to the people around him, regardless of their titles, positions, circumstances, or even appearances. “[Be] kind to everybody because you don’t know what they’ve been through.”

Like a two-piece suit set that gives off a whole new character depending on where it’s worn, Fred is big on keeping all his interests together without letting one overshadow the others, while making sure to never lose heart. He not only commands every room he’s in with his looks, but also places just as much value on how he treats the people inside it.

Dressing Up for the Next Stop — and Beyond

For the Gen Z actor, his clothes do more than complete an outfit. They can change how he thinks, feels, and carries himself, especially when taking on a character. Every wardrobe choice helps Fred find the confidence to bring a role to life.

“‘Pag sa taping, you have to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally,” he says. “If you aren’t comfortable with what you’re wearing, you can’t focus.”

As he draws close to his twenties, Fred is eager to wear many hats for the future of himself and his family. Beyond the spotlight, he hopes to start a business with his father — ideally a car shop that would bring their shared love of four-wheelers together. “I wanna help my dad and make his dream come true.”

For now, though, the celebrity athlete is making the most of what he calls his in-between era — no longer the person he used to be, but not yet done becoming who he wants to be.

In the next five years or so, he hopes people will recognize him as an artist who has accomplished more, but still as curious, passionate, and willing to try new things as he is today.

“I’d want people to see [me] as someone who has grown, but never lost the person he started as.”

Finding his footing in a place away from home didn’t throw Fred off course, but it did make him see himself in another light. It gave him a moment to pause, embrace the discomfort of being somewhere unfamiliar, and completely let loose.

Whether through his evolving fashion, on-camera roles, games, or ambitions, the young phenom is determined to continue going out of his comfort zone and braving whatever possibilities lie ahead.

Should the Courtside Charmer get to the point where he finally outgrows his title, he already has the perfect replacement ready: “The Multi-Faceted Fred.”

Balancing the roles of athlete, actor, model, and budding businessman, he has a lifetime of dreams to pursue — and no reason to settle on just one.

It utterly makes sense why the green suit feels right for Fred. In a place where it could easily have looked out of character, it becomes the most memorable hallmark of the trip — not because it blends in, but because it doesn’t try to, and confidently so.

The Courtside Charmer is just one of the many looks he can wear. The Multi-Faceted Fred is what he suits up as when he allows the rest of himself to break free and grow.
